The true call to Discipleship

Cuz I'm still "half-blind" from my EpiLASIK yesterday, I prayed that woship today would have songs that I knew by heart so that I could still praise God.
And yes, God answered my prayers! :)
I knew 2 out of 4 songs! Hee

2 Corinthians 4:7-10 - We're all blessed to be a blessing! :)

"Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?
"
-Luke 9:23-25

(1) True discipleship comes at great personal cost (v23)
What does the cross mean?
We have to take up the cross daily and follow God.

The process of change is difficult but with God, all things are possible.

(2) True discipleship can be counter-intuitive (v24)
"life" in our context is 面子/face/credibility.
The more we try to protect something, the more we'll lose it.
The more we hold on to what we think is right, the more we'll go wrong.
We should do things for His sake.

(3) True discipleship is true greatness (v25)
What is gaining the whole world but losing yourself?

"For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
"
-2 Corinthians 5:14-17
