"There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise:
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer;
The rock badgers are a feeble folk, yet they make their homes in the crags;
The locusts have no king, yet they all advance in ranks;
The spider skillfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces."
-Proverbs 30:24-28
Wisdom is a gift from God. (See Proverbs 4:7 and Proverbs 16:16)
(1) Preparation
Ants - they are not strong but they have amazing tenacity (one can carry 10-50 times its weight!)
They are wise in preparation and always ready.
Ant Philosophy: During summer, Think winter!
Children, teenagers preparing for adulthood - they get as much experience as possible, it is all right to fall;
Young adults preparing for marriage - build up EQ, finances, etc.
More importantly, we prepare for 'eternity'.
We shouldn't live for earthly life.
Are you ready for future ministry in Heaven?
We need to seek the Lord with all our hearts (See Luke 22:9-12)
Seek God, be committed in church, serve people.
(2) Habitation
Rock badgers - very vulnerable, very timid and slow but vascular system is that of a whale!
It recognises its own weaknesses, hence builds its home in crevices of rock for shelters.
We have our limitations, make the rock our habitation.
On Christ, the solid rock I stand, all other grounds are sinking sand. (See Psalms 61:1-4)
(3) Unification
Locusts have no king - there is no one to guide them but they work together.
The place of agreement is the place of power.
The story of 'The Carpenter's Tools' was shared too! :)
We should not do things that God hates. (See Proverbs 6:16-19)
Satan wants to sow discord to conquer - he wants to divide us in God's house so that he can win us over.
(4) Determination
Spiders do not let go of what they grasp.
What we can learn from them is that the devil can try to sweep us away with trials and temptations but we will not be moved from where we want to be.
We shall not lose heart (See Galatians 6:9) but have faith and keep sticking to the promises of God!
On a side note, I read on and found a passage on being a virtuous wife. (See Proverbs 31:10-31)
Indeed, as we prepare for our wedding, I shall let God prepare me to be the sailor's wife! ;)
